Interest rates
I keep getting updates on the interest rates for my savings account. as of today it is less than 1/2 of a single percent. at this rate I will soon be paying them to keep my money for me.
It made me think of the word “interest”. My spell check kept trying to change “interest” to “intereat” which I don’t think is a word.
There’s a website “Pinterest “ where you can virtually “pin” pictures of things you’re interested in to a virtual bulletin board and anyone can see your interests. If they are interested.
However, most people don’t use the word “interest“ unless they’re referring to tiny amounts of money from nameless faceless enterprises that we allow to add to our money we’ve placed in the care of people we don’t actually know. These people we trust with our money exclusively because they promise to add money to our trusted money. That really doesn’t make sense to me.
I don’t know you. I wouldn't know you if I encountered you in the flesh. I don’t know if I can trust you because I don’t know you. Here take my money that I need to provide my necessities and watch over it while I watch movies about spaceships in fantasy worlds to distract me from the stress of my actual life.
The stress that is induced, in part, because I need money to pay for necessities like food and shelter.
my actual life, I may or may not be interested in.
